TP Mazembe and Zambian legend Rainford Kalaba backs Mamelodi Sundowns and Al Ahly SC to lift the 2024-2025 CAF Champions League.

Speaking after the CAF Confederations Cup and Champions League draws in Doha, Qatar on Thursday, Kalaba touched on how well Orlando Pirates and Sundowns are representing South Africa in the tournament.

“I think Sundowns and Pirates they are representing the Southern Africa well in this competition, so I think if they put in the effort, work hard, they can go far,” Kalaba stated.

He further went on to state that despite the teams left in the tournament being strong, he sees both Sundowns and Egyptian giants Al Ahly as favourites to win the tournament.

“They other group  are also difficult, but the team who puts in the most effort will go far,” Kalaba added.

“I think Sundowns and Al Ahly they have done a lot in this, and they are doing well. I give Ahly more chance to win this cup.”

The Brazilians are pitted to take on Esperance Sportive de Tunis a club that knocked them out of the same competition last season.

The first leg is expected to be in South Africa during the weekend of the 1st of April, followed by the return leg the following weekend.
