Orlando Pirates beat Supersport United 3-1 in the quarterfinal of the 2024 MTN8 Cup.

The Buccaneers started the match under pressure, as the visitors were on the forefront with Vincent Pule, Terrence Dzukamanja, and Bradley Grobbler troubling the Pirates defenders.

However, the hosts started to dominate the match in the second part of the first half leading to the club’s captain on the day, Olisa Ndah backheeling Pirates to a one-nil lead at the break after a cross from Man of the Match.

Supersport went on to start the second half on the high note after Pule equalised in the 50th minute after meeting a headed cross from fellow attacker Grobbler.

Despite the Sea Robbers coming close on multiple occasions through the likes of Relebohile Mofokeng and Tshegofatso Mabasa, the match ended 1-1 after 90 minutes to head to extra time.

Three minutes into the extra time, Saleng tapped in a low cross from Kabelo Dlamini to hand back Pirates the lead before substitute Evidence Makgopa sealed the victory for the defending champions in the 108th minute.
