Orlando Pirates Football Club has landed the signature of goalkeeper Melusi Buthelezi from TS Galaxy Football Club.
Buthelezi is having a good season so far, as he has managed to keep nine clean sheets in 19 games he has played.
In those 19 matches the 25-year-old has let in 13 goals to put himself among the top goalkeepers in the country.
The former Jomo Cosmos keeper’s form this season has seen him earn a national team call-up back in September.
Buthelezi is said to have signed a three-year deal with a two-year option.
Buthelezi’s move to Pirates put the futures of Siyabonga Mpontshane and Richard Ofori at the club in doubt.
Mpontshane,37 is expected to leave when his contract runs out at the end of the season.
While Ofori turned down a new deal a few weeks ago.
Buthelezi will battle for the club’s number-one spot next season with Sipho Chaine who is the club’s number-one goalkeeper currently.
However, his departure will also leave his current club(TS Galaxy) with a rebuilding job to do before the beginning of next season.
The club’s financial problems will see them lose their star players like Given Msimango and Tshegofatso Nyama to bigger clubs.
