Orlando Pirates Football Club is reportedly considering to hand one of their star players Jomo Sono’s legendary number.

The start of the 2023/2024 season for Orlando Pirates has seen a rise of new star players at the club.

With the likes of Kermit Erasmus, Thembinkosi Lorch, and Vincent Pule unable to feature for the club due to injuries, a crop of new talent at the club has stepped up.

Zakhele Lepasa, Monnapuleng Saleng, Given Maswanganyi, Katlego Otladisa, and Relebohile Mofokeng have been at the forefront of Pirates’ decent start to the season.

The Buccaneers have managed to win two, draw one, and lose one in the four matches they have played this season so far.

However, their decent start has been far cry from what the club has produced in attack this season.

One of the players that has caught the eye this season in Pirates’ attack is Mofokeng(formerly known as Ratomo).

The teenage sensation joined Pirates before the beginning of the 2022/2023 season.

Quickly went from being a reserve team player to first team player in less than six months at the club.

Despite struggling to cement a starting place in the first team, Mofokeng is a regular starter for the club this season after a good pre-season.

ORLANDO PIRATES LOOKING TO HAND RELEBOHILE MOFOKENG JOMO SONO’S LEGENDARY JERSEY NUMBER 10?

After a good start to the season, the club is said to be looking to reward the youngster.

According to Rushsporton sources, Pirates is looking to hand the 18-year-old the legendary jersey number 10.

The club is said to have asked Jomo Sono the permission to hand Mofokeng the jersey number.

He becomes the club’s second player to be linked with the number.

The club mistakenly listed that Azola Matrose will wear the jersey number on their website before later changing it.

Whether Mofokeng will wear the number or not, remains to be seen.
