Orlando Pirates Football Club is set to sign another goalkeeper after signing Melusi Buthelezi from TS Galaxy earlier this off-season.

One of the departments that Orlando Pirates has struggled with over the years has been the goalkeeping department.

The club has struggled to find a goalkeeper to cement the goalkeeper’s position since the untimely passing of Senzo Meyiwa back in October 2014.

The likes of Siyabonga Mpontshane, Jackson Mabokgwane, Brighton Mhlongo, and most recently, Richard Ofori have all tried to fill in the void.

But none have been able to fill the void left by the former South African international.

Despite all their troubles in this department, the club continues to add more goalkeepers to their squad.

ORLANDO PIRATES’ LATEST GOALKEEPING ADDITION!

Having added Melusi Buthelezi from TS Galaxy at the end of last season, and with both Richard Ofori and Siyabonga Mpontshane set to stay.

The club’s latest addition comes as a surprise.

The Buccaneers reported by the Citizens to be on the brink to beat Richards Bay FC to the signing of Dondol Stars shotstopper, Sphamandla Gumede.

Gumede is reported to have agreed on personal terms with Richards Bay before Pirates entered the race to sign him.

Supersport United is also said to have been interested in signing the former Nedbank Cup young player of the tournament nominee.

He is set to compete with four other goalkeepers for the number one spot.

Siyabonga Mpontshane, Richard Ofori, Sipho Chaine, and Melusi Buthelezi will likely be given to Chaine at the beginning of the season.
