Orlando Pirates Football Club ended their 2023/2024 pre-season unbeaten after two impressive matches this weekend.

After an impressive 2022/2023 season, Orlando Pirates knew the iimportance of a good pre-season if they were to replicate the season.

Before heading to Spain for their third leg of pre-season, the Buccaneers played and beat Pretoria Calliers 3-1 in Rustenburg, North West.

This was followed by three matches in Spain against Maccabi Tel Aviv, Independiente Del Valle, and UD Las Palmas, respectively.

The matches ended 0-1, 1-3, and 0-0 in favour of the Sea Robbers before they returned to South Africa.

Upon returning to the country, they beat TS Galaxy 4-2 to continue their unbeaten pre-season run.


A week before their opening league fixture against Stellenbosch FC, Pirates hosted both Supersport United and Moroka Swallows at Orlando Stadium.

In their first match, they played to a high intensity goalless draw with Matsatsantsa.

Pirates quickly followed the draw with an impressive 3-1 victory over Swallows.

A brace from Kabelo Dlamini and a strike from Relebohile Ratomo see Pirates end their pre-season undefeated.

The Houghton giants’ next match is against the Stellies at the Danie Craven Stadium this upcoming Saturday.

The match will be televised on Supersport PSL with a kick-off set for 8 pm.
