Orlando Pirates has put a ban on the club’s star Monnapule Saleng, who is currently out on loan at fellow Betway Premiership club, Orbit College FC.

Saleng recently completed a surprise season-long loan move to his former side, Orbit after troubled times at Pirates, which led to him not playing for the club for a period of over eight months.
The South African international was arguably the most influential player for the Soweto giants during the tenure of the now Al Ahly SC’s head coach Jose Riveiro between 2022 and 2025.
The 27-year-old played a huge role in Spaniard tactician winning five trophies in three seasons.
However, despite all of that, the club has decided to place a ban on him, alongside Pirates teammates Yanga Madiba and Thuso Moleleki, who are also on loan at Orbit.
The trio won’t be able to play against the parent club this season after the Buccaneers placed a clause in their respective contracts that will see them not play against the Sea Robbers when the two sides meet.
Pirates and Orbit will first meet at Orlando Stadium on the 26th this month, and the return leg will be on the 23rd of May 2026 at Royal Bafokeng Stadium.
