Mamelodi Sundowns announces the club’s 16th departure this transfer window, as the club continues to overhaul its squad.

Having announced the departures of Matias Esquivel to Greek side AE Kifisia and Thembinkosi Lorch, who is poised to join Wydad Athletic Club, the Brazilians announced another departure on Friday morning.

The South African international Neo Maema leaves the Chloorkop-based club after four seasons, having joined from now-defunct Bloemfontein Celtic back in 2021.

He leaves the club, having played 120 matches and provided 13 goals and 14 assits while also winning eight trophies, which include four league trophies, MTN8, Nedbank Cup, and CAF African Football league title.

He also becomes the club’s 16th departure after the likes of Sipho Mbule, Rivaldo Coetzee, Kobamelo Kodisang, Lebohang Maboe, and Sfiso Ngobeni have also been shown the exit doors at the club.

The 29-year-old is currently representing South Africa in the 2024 CHAN tournament in Uganda, Kenya, and Tanzania.

He is also not short of suitors. As a Tanzanian top division side, Simba Sporting Club is said to be on the brink of signing him.

Simba has recently signed Rushine De Reuck on a free transfer from Sundowns on a one-year deal with an option for a further year.
