Most of Kaizer Chiefs fans were hopeful of the club signing Junior Mendieta from Stellenbosch FC.
But the club is beat to signature of the Argentinean by their arch-rivals Mamelodi Sundowns.
The news broke Chiefs’ fans’ hearts, as they were hopeful of landing the 29-year-old attacker.

After the club failed to sign the attacker, despite being the favourites to sign him.

The Chiefs fans were sure of landing the player.
But the R10 million plus release clause is said to be a defining factor in Chiefs not going hard for Mendieta.
Mendieta is turning 30 this month, and it is highly unlikely to see Chiefs paying R10 million for a player of his age.
Meanwhile, the club is looking at Maritzburg United Star, Rowen Human, as a replacement for Mendieta.
However, United is looking for a fee of around R6 million to part with their player.
Which is what Chiefs will not pay for the 22-year-old.
Supersport United is also interested in the player.
