Mamelodi Sundowns have received a major boost ahead of their African Football League semifinal second leg clash against Al Ahly.

Mamelodi Sundowns utility player training with his teammates ahead of Al Ahly AFL semifinal second leg clash at Cairo International Stadium, Egypt on Tuesday, the 31st of October.

Utility player Thapelo Morena has returned to training.

Morena missed Sundowns’ last few matches due to an abdominal injury that sidelined him for several weeks.

He is now fit and trained with his teammates in Cairo, Egypt where they will face African champions in a crucial encounter.

Morena, who can play as a winger, a striker, a full-back, or a midfielder, offers versatility and pace to Sundowns’ forward line.

First Leg Advantage

Sundowns go into the match with a 1-0 lead after Thapelo Maseko’s wonder strike this past Sunday at Loftus Versfeld Stadium.

Maseko scored the only goal of the game in the 52nd minute with a stunning strike from outside the box that left Al Ahly goalkeeper Mohamed El Shenawy helpless.

The goal gave Sundowns a slender but vital advantage over their Egyptian rivals, who have won the African Football League a record nine times.
