Orlando Pirates star attacker Monnapuleng Saleng’s car was damaged.
The former now-defunct Free State Stars FC attacker had his car damaged ahead of a match against Soweto rivals.

Months after poor display against Orlando Pirates’ arch-rivals Kaizer Chiefs, Saleng reveals what led to his poor performance on the day.
The attacker underperformed on the day due to his car being damaged leading into the game.

“I called the VW people, and they also discovered that the pipe had been cut, and it was intentional,” Saleng said.
“When I asked around, no one knew what happened.
“So, it was one thing that disturbed me. This happened earlier on the day [while] we were preparing for camp.
“My mind was completely off because you ask yourself questions like, if that thing[petrol pipe] had stayed connected even by a tiny bit and I drove it, what would have happened?
“That incident changed everything, and it disturbed me and my game.
“You could see I didn’t have the energy. I went there because I was told to come and play.”

His car was tempered with at Pirates’ training base in Rand Stadium in Johannesburg, Gauteng.
The incident happened on the eve of Chiefs’ 1-0 victory over Pirates back in February 2023.
SALENG STRONG’S COMEBACK!
The near fatal incident didn’t stop the 25-year-old from having a brilliant season.
He went on to register 15 goals and 11 assists in 30 games across all competitions to lead Pirates to an MTN8 and Nedbank Cup double.
Meanwhile, also helping the Buccaneers finish second in the Dstv Premiership to qualify for the CAF Champions League next season.
But his brilliant season was top off by two individual awards, the MTN8 Last Man Standing and Dstv Premiership Players’ Player of The Season.
