The legal battle

Shauwn ‘MaMkhize’ Mkhize, the president of the Premier Soccer League (PSL) club Royal AM, has lost another legal battle against the South African Revenue Service (SARS).

The High Court of South Africa ruled on Monday, 16 October 2023, that Mkhize must pay SARS a tax bill of R37, 915, 549.77.

The Unpaid Taxes

According to the court documents, Mkhize had unpaid taxes due to SARS as the owner of the Thwihli Thwahla company.

The Warrant of Execution issued by the court also instructed the sheriff of the court to “attach and remove the movable property of the Royal AM” to recover the debt.

The Implications

The court order is a huge blow for Mkhize, who has been involved in several legal disputes in recent months.

Other Financial Burdens

She has been fighting against the FIFA ruling to pay former striker Samir Nurkovic around R12 million.

Meanwhile, the club is also facing sponsorship dilemma with their R27 million sponsorship from Msunduzi Municipality taken to court by DA.
