The second round of the 2023/2024 Dstv Premiership campaign is set to give South Africans a mouth-watering clash.

Mamelodi Sundowns is set to host Kaizer Chiefs this upcoming Wednesday, the 8th of August 2023.

The heavyweight clash is set to take place at the Lucas Moripe Stadium despite fears of the match not being played at the stadium.

Last month, the venue underwent grass change, and it was thought that the ground would be ready later this month.

But Sundowns announced on their various social media pages that the fuxture will be played at the venue.

Even still, it remains to be seen whether the match will take place at the venue despite the recent developments.

However, ahead of the clash, Sundowns’ head coach Rhulani Mokwena looked for a way to get an advantage.

Having overseen Sundowns’ opening day 2-1 victory over Sekhukhune United, he traveled to Durban to see Chiefs against Chippa United.


The 36-year-old tactician was spotted in the stands during Amakhosi‘s 0-0 draw with an impressive Chippa United team.

The match is set to kick off at 3 pm Central African Time and will be televised.

South African viewers can catch the match live on Dstv channels 191(SABC 1), 202(Supersport PSL), and 209(Supersport Variety 4).

Meanwhile, Amakhosi go into the match after signing  a new striker to add to their misfiring striking force.
