The Brazilians had three major decisions that changed the outcome of the matches wrongfully going their way.

The first two were against their arch-rivals Kaizer Chiefs at the Lucas Masterpieces Moripe Stadium in a Dstv Premiership heavyweight clash.

In the 21st minute, with the scoreline tied 0-0, Sundowns captain Themba Zwane intercepted Daniel Castillo’s intended pass to Thatayaone Ditlhokwe.

The ball fell into Peter Shalulile’s feet, who quickly rolled the ball to Lucas Ribeiro, who slaughtered the ball past Brandon Petersen in Chiefs’ goals to hand Sundowns the lead.

However, both Ace “Mr Spot On” Ngcobo and Victor “The Principal” Hlongwane on Extra Time and Soccer Zone stated that the goal should have been chalked off for offside.

Due to Shalulile being in an offside position when receiving the ball from Zwane’s interception.

The second call the they feel the referee got wrong as well, was the Chiefs’ penalty call later in the first half.

Meanwhile, defending a set-piece from Chiefs, Shalulile grabbed, pulled, and tripped Ditlhokwe in his box.

But well positioned Avukile Tom waved the call away, and Sundowns got a goal kick instead of being punished.

The former South African match officials again went against the referee’s decision and felt there was enough contact to award the penalty.

After the game on Wednesday, Sundowns welcomed Swallows at the same venue for the MTN8 quarterfinal clash.

Less than ten minutes into the game, Andile Jali got sent off for a reckless tackle on Tebogo Mokoena.

However, Swallows managed to hold Sundows off until early in the second half.

Zwane managed to rob Tlakusani Mthethwa off the ball in the middle of the park before passing it to Ribeiro.

The Brazilian, in turn, produced a defence splitting pass to Mshishi, who slammed the ball past Daniel Akpeyi.

Upon close inspection, the goal should not have stood, as Zwane was offside when he received the ball.

The two former FIFA oofficials confirmed that the goal should not have stood.
