Going into the 2022/2023 season, Pirates announced Jose Riveiro as the club’s head coach to the disapproval of many.

Others went as far as dubbing the Spanish coach as a plumber.

But after a dramatic victory in the Nedbank Cup, one of his players hit back at the critics.

Mako jumped at the opportunity to hit back at the critics and doubters.

I am happy,”the plumber” won the Nedbank Cup,” he said on Supersport TV.

” They were calling our coach, the plumber. Now he is a champion. I am so happy for him.”

The Spanish tactician in his first season as Pirates coach finished second in the league and won two trophies.

He has surely proven the doubters and critics wrong and will look to go better than this season next season.

Mako hitting back at the doubters shows that he has players’ support behind him, and they will fight for him against everyone.
