With the start of the 2025-2026 season getting closer, there is a major update in Thembinkosi Lorch’s future at Mamelodi Sundowns.

Thembinkosi Lorch's
Wydad Athletic Club attacker Thembinkosi Lorch and Manchester City attacker Phil Foden during a 2025 FIFA Club World Cup Group G match between Manchester City and Wydad Athletic Club at Lincoln Financial Field at Philadephia in the United States of America.

After a difficult start to life at Sundowns, Lorch completed a loan move to Morrocan and African giants, Wydad Athletic Club, a year after joining the Brazilians from Orlando Pirates.

Reuniting with the coach that brought him to Sundowns from Pirates, Rulani Mokwena revived Thembinkosi Lorch’s career.

He put in exceptional performances especially during the recently ended FIFA Club World Cup in the United States of America, that saw the Casablanca-based club look to make his stay at the club permanent after the expiry of his loan spell.

However, after weeks of negotiations, the talks seem to have collapsed, leading to Wydad AC pulling out of the talks to sign the 31-year-old.

Nyoso, as he is popularly known, is now expected to report for pre-season at Chloorkop this upcoming week to prepare for the upcoming season.

However, despite the Wydad falling through, the South African international is still expected to leave the club before the transfer window closes on the 22nd of September 2025.
