Former Kaizer Chiefs star Khama Billiat has shown his respect and love for his late friend and fellow Zimbabwean footballer George Chigova, who passed away on 15 November 2023.

Billiat was seen singing and dancing at Chigova’s funeral, which was held at his home in Gauteng, South Africa.

Aces Academy Connection Between Khama Billiat And George Chigova

Billiat and Chigova shared a bond that went beyond the national team, as they both started their careers at Aces Youth Soccer Academy in Zimbabwe.

They also played together for the Warriors, representing their country in several tournaments.

Chigova was a goalkeeper who had stints with Gunners, Dynamos, SuperSport United and Polokwane City in his career.

Social Media Reaction

Billiat’s video of leading the mourners in song went viral on social media, with many fans and fellow players praising him for his gesture.

Billiat had also posted a heartfelt message on Instagram, expressing his condolences to Chigova’s family and friends.

Chigova’s Death And Burial

Chigova died from an alleged heart attack, according to confirmed reports.

His body is set to be repatriated to Zimbabwe this week for burial.

Several Zimbabwean celebrities and footballers have been at his residence since Wednesday last week to pay their respects.

Among them were Evans Rusike, Tapiwa Kapini and Ronald Pfumbidzai, who also sang and backed Billiat.
