Kaizer Chiefs Sporting Director Kaizer Motaung Jr. reacts to the club acquiring the services of longtime target Asanele Velebayi.

Yesterday, Amakhosi announced the signing of Velebayi on an undisclosed long-term deal after nearly over two years of chasing after the player.
First Chiefs showed interest in the winger while he was still in the top division of South African football with Cape Town Spurs back in the season 2023-2024, but Spurs turned down the offer from the Naturena-based club.
After turning down another offer the following season, Chiefs has now signed the player on a free transfer, much to the delight of Moraung Jr.
Speaking to the club’s website, Motaung Jr. revealed how the club is happy to finally have the 22-year-old in their books.
“We are happy to finally have Asanele with us,” Kaizer Motaung Jr. told the club’s website.
“He is a great addition, and we believe he will add significant value because he is a perfect fit for our game model and the culture we have here at the Club.”
Velebayi is expected to be joined at Naturena by his former teammate at Spurs, Luke Baartman.
Baartman is awaiting the decision of PSL DRC to determine his next move, and he is likely to receive the same outcome as Velebayi.
