Kaizer Chiefs suffers a major blow ahead of the 2025-2026 Betway Premiership opener away to Stellenbosch FC in Cape Town.

Towards the end of last season, Chiefs was forced to play the added time before full time with nine during their league match against Sekhukhune United on the 17th of May this year after Pule Mmodi was sent off for violent conduct.
Amakhosi managed to walk away from the match with a point after Glody Lilepo’s wonder strike in the added time of the first half cancelled early strike from the hosts by Ngoanamello Rammala.
However, despite Lilepo rescuing Chiefs, the Naturena-based club is set to feel the wrath of Mmodi’s red card even this season after the player missed the club’s last match last season against Polokwane City.
Having served one of his two games suspension, the 32-year-old will miss Chiefs’ trip to the Winelands to take on Stellenbosch FC in the opener of the 2025-2026 Betway Premiership season.
The Glamour and Stellies take on each other on Sunday, the 10th of August, with the kick off the match set for 5h30 pm South African time.
