Donay Jansen, the 20-year-old striker of Chiefs, has set his sights on breaking the DStv Diski Challenge top goal scorer record.
He has scored seven goals in seven matches so far, and he wants to reach 30 goals by the end of the season.
Impressive Form Earns First Team Call-Up
Jansen’s consistent performances have not gone unnoticed by the Chiefs first team coaches, who have invited him to train with them.
He sees this as an opportunity to impress and earn his debut with the big boys.
“It was a good feeling to train with the big boys and I will work hard to impress the coaches. There are still more good things to come. I am praying to stay injury-free,” he said.
Teamwork Is Key For Success
Jansen also praised his teammates for their support and contribution to his goals.
He said that they are working well together and are aiming to improve their position in the league.
“I think as a team we are in a good space, working together would be very key because we also want to improve this season, try to give our best shot in the league race.”
Chasing History
Jansen is chasing the record of Orlando Pirates striker Boitumelo Radiopane, who scored 25 goals in the 2021-22 season.
He is also hoping to surpass former Golden Arrows striker Nkosikhona Dube, who scored 21 goals in a previous season.
Jansen will have a chance to add to his tally this weekend when Chiefs visit Arrows at Chatsworth Stadium on Sunday.
