For much of the 2022/2023, Kaizer Chiefs was leading the race to sign the South African international Bongani Zungu after his then French club Amiens SC decided to partways with him after the expiration of his contract.

However, his former club Sundowns sweeped in the last minute to hijack the player’s proposed move to Naturena.

The Scottish giants, Glasgow Rangers, failed to make any impact in his first season back at the club, making a handful of appearances.

He played 13 games and scored one goal in all competitions for the Brazilians this past season, as he struggled to cement a place in the starting eleven.

Despite the move being nearly impossible, Amakhosi management is monitoring the player’s situation at Chlorkoop with the aim of looking to find a way to bring the 30-year-old to Phefeni.

But with Sundowns’ head coach Rhulani Mokwena fond of the player having played a key in luring the player to the club back in 2022, it is unlikely that he will let him join the rival team.

Zungu is currently with his teammates in Rustenburg, North West, enjoying their second part of 2023/2023 pre-season before they head to the Netherlands for the third.
