In a recent turn of events, Kaizer Chiefs Football Club has issued a formal letter of apology for the unruly behavior exhibited by some of its fans during a match against TS Galaxy FC on August 20, 2023.
The incident, which took place at Mbombela Stadium, saw angry Chiefs fans throwing objects in the direction of the head coach, Molefi Ntseki, following the team’s 1-0 defeat.

KAIZER CHIEFS CONFIRMS NO INJURIES AND PSL CHARGES
The club’s communication manager, Vina Maphosa, confirmed that no one was injured during the incident.
However, the club found itself in hot water as PSL prosecutor Zola Majavu pressed charges against them.
In response, Majavu imposed a fine of R100,000, with R30,000 of the penalty suspended for 24 months.

Additionally, Kaizer Chiefs was ordered to issue a written apology to the league, its sponsors, and display the apology prominently on their website.
KAIZER CHIEFS’ APOLOGY
In compliance with the prosecutor’s directives, Chiefs released a formal letter of apology, addressing the incident and expressing their remorse.
The club stated, “Kaizer Chiefs hereby unreservedly apologizes to the PSL, all PSL member clubs, TS Galaxy FC, and all of its peace-loving supporters, for the behavior of some of its supporters at the Club’s PSL fixture against TS Galaxy FC at Mbombela Stadium on August 20, 2023.”
The letter further emphasized the club’s condemnation of the “poor and unacceptable behavior in the strongest possible terms.”
It also revealed that Chiefs had initiated a process to engage with its branches on the topic of supporter behavior during football matches.
This incident serves as a reminder of the importance of maintaining sportsmanship and respectful conduct both on and off the field.
While the passion of football fans is commendable, it should always be channeled in a positive and non-destructive manner.
