Orlando Pirates head coach Jose Riveiro breaks his silence after announcing that he is leaving the club at the end of the season.

On Thursday, the 3rd of April, the Buccaneers sent shockwaves among the South African football fraternity by announcing that the club’s head coach Riveiro will leave the club when his contract ends at the end of the season.
Having joined the club back in 2022, the Spaniard tactician went on to lift five trophies and finished second in the league in the two-and-a-half seasons he has spent at the club so far.

With all the focus on him, Riveiro shifted the focus on the club’s next matches, starting with their upcoming match against Polokwane City in the league.
“My priority right now is on our upcoming match against Polokwane City,” Riveiro told the club’s website.
“This is a tough match. A match that needs our undivided attention and focus.”
He also mentioned that he will express his emotions and himself about his time at the club and the decision he has taken at the right time but for now he is focused on ending the season on a high.
And also how he would have loved to let the club know of his decision at the end of the season, but he had to give the club time to plan for the future.
“The time will come for me to express myself on the decision I have made, but now isn’t that time because we have a job to do.
The season is far from over, and we have a lot of work to do between now and the end of May.
“Obviously, in an ideal world, one would have wanted to hold on making any statements until the end of the season, but it’s not possible.
“The club needs to plan for its future, and it’s only fair that they are given time to do so,” Riveiro concluded.
Pirates is next in action in the league against Polokwane City this Saturday in Polokwane before hosting MC Alger for the second leg of the quarterfinal clash mid-week.
