Former Kaizer Chiefs central middlefielder Willard Katsande reveals how the club blocked his proposed move to Germany.

Former Kaizer Chiefs and Sekhukhune United central middlefielder Willard Katsande.

The former Kaizer Chiefs star attracted interest from the then German Bundesliga club, Hamburger SV.

But the move did not materialise due to the Germany based club feeling that the then Amakhosi star was overpriced.

Chiefs were coming off an impressive and successful 2012/2013 season.

Katsande played a crucial role in helping the club to win a league and a cup double.

However, despite the success in the field of play, Chiefs failed to agree to a deal with Hamburger for the sale of Katsande.

After the disappointment of not being able to move to Europe, he went on to become Chiefs’ legend.

Playing 345 matches, scoring 19 goals, providing 10 assits, and getting 82 yellow cards to go with a handful of red cards.

He later moved to Sekhukhune United ahead of the 2021/2022 season and retired a season later.

Bosso Ya Mboka now represents Sekhukhune as the club’s ambassador while also running his businesses.

He also runs a football clinic back in his country of Zimbabwe, trying to find the next Willard Katsande’s and Khama Billiat’s.
