Kaizer Chiefs central middlefielder George Matlou is linked with a possible exit from the club ahead of the 2025-2026 season.

Matlou was among several Amakhosi players who had their contracts coming to an end at the end of the previous season.
However, the 27-year-old was believed to have been handed a new one year deal that will end at the end of the upcoming season.
The former now-defunct Moroka Swallows player travelled with Chiefs’ squad for pre-season camp in the Netherlands and was also among the club’s players that travelled to Durban this past weekend to take on Asante Kotoko in the 2025 Toyota Cup clash.
However, despite being with the club since his initial contract ended and talks of him signing a new deal, Soccer Laduma reports that the player is yet to sign a deal at the club.
According to the publication, the club and the player are still in negotiations over a possible deal, as the player is head coach Nasreddine Nabi’s plans for the upcoming season.
But his stay at the club will be determined by the details of his contract, as the two parties are believed to have hit a snag when coming to numbers in the contract.
