Kaizer Chiefs are reportedly looking to appoint former Moroka Swallows goalkeeper Greg Etafia as their new goalkeeper coach to replace the veteran Rainer Dinkelacker.
Petersen’s Errors Haunt Amakhosi
One of the main reasons why Kaizer Chiefs have struggled this season is the inconsistency of their goalkeeping department.
Brandon Petersen has failed to live up to expectations and has made several costly mistakes that have led to goals for the opposition.
Petersen has also been heavily criticized for his lack of communication and leadership skills, as he often seems to be out of position or unaware of his teammates’ movements.
The club’s veteran goalkeeper, Itumeleng Khune, who returned to Amakhosi, has also been under pressure and has not been able to keep a clean sheet or win games for the team.
Dinkelacker’s Appointment Backfires?
Ahead of the current season, Chiefs brought back veteran goalkeeper coach Rainer Dinkelacker to strengthen their goalkeeping department.
Dinkelacker had previously worked successfully with Amakhosi in the past, producing the finest goalkeepers the country has seen.
However, Dinkelacker’s appointment did not seem to work as expected, as he could not improve the performance of Petersen or Khune.
Etafia’s Experience and Connection
According to African journalist Mike Jnr on X(formerly Twitter), Chiefs are now looking to bring in former Moroka Swallows goalkeeper Greg Etafia as their next goalkeeper coach to replace Dinkelacker.

Etafia is currently working as a goalkeeper coach at TS Galaxy.
Etafia is a former Nigerian international who played in the PSL for well over 10 years for Swallows.
Etafia is also not a stranger to Chiefs’ goalkeepers, as he has worked with Bruce Bvuma during the off-season.
