Background

Kaizer Chiefs is looking for a new coach after parting ways with Molefi Ntseki earlier this month.

Ntseki, who was appointed in July, failed to impress the club’s management and fans, as he only managed to win two out of eight matches in charge.

McCarthy’s Credentials

The club is reportedly interested in hiring Michael Joseph McCarthy, a former Irish international and Manchester City player, who has a wealth of experience as a coach in United Kingdom.

Previous Links With Chiefs

This is not the first time that McCarthy has been linked with Chiefs.

In 2018, he was reportedly one of the candidates for the job, but the club opted for Giovanni Solinas instead.

Solinas lasted for around five months at Chiefs, before being replaced by Ernst Middendorp.

Since then, Chiefs have also hired Gavin Hunt and Stuart Baxter among other coaches, but neither of them could deliver the desired results.

Will McCarthy Join Chiefs?

According to Kick-off, McCarthy is among coaches who could in the running to take over the hot seat, as they seek to end their six-year trophy drought.
