Former Kaizer Chiefs star faces arrest for assault after attacking match official.
What happened?
One of Kaizer Chiefs’ former stars, Luke Petros, is in trouble after punching a referee in the nose at the end of a soccer match in Zimbabwe.
The incident happened on Saturday, October 16, 2023, at Chiremba Stadium in the Eastern Region Soccer League.
Petros and five of his players attacked the referee, Blessing Tauro, and his two assistants after the final whistle.
What are the consequences?
Petros and his players are facing arrest and disciplinary action for their violent behaviour.
The referee reported the matter to the police, who opened a docket against them.

The Eastern Region Soccer League chairman, Davison Muchena, also condemned the incident and said that Petros and his players would be summoned for a hearing as soon as possible.
Muchena said that he was shocked by Petros’ actions, as he had a lot of respect for him as a former Warriors and Chiefs striker.
