Orlando Pirates and Premier Soccer League(PSL) Chairman Dr. Irvin Khoza is set to be backed to replace Dr. Danny Jordaan as South African Football Association(SAFA) president this upcoming weekend.

Ahead of the National Executive Committee(NEC) meeting this upcoming, the underfire SAFA President Jordaan is facing uncertain times.
According to information received by Sowetanlive, NEC members are set to ask Jordaan to step aside as the association’s president on a temporary basis and be replaced by PSL Chairman, Dr. Khoza.
According to one of the NEC members, Bhudha Mathate, some of NEC members are lobbying for Jordaan to not even chair the meeting as he is facing serious fraud charges.
“He is on bail facing serious charges, so he should not be at the NEC, let alone chair it,” Mathathe said.
“We do not want him there because he would be violating his bail conditions, which say he should not interfere with witnesses. We know that Dr. Irvin Khoza is one of the witnesses.
“There are NEC members who may be witnesses too. It’s nothing personal – he has to follow the law.”
Mathate further went on to suggest Dr. Khoza is a suitable replacement for Jordaan, while the latter continues to face the law even though it will be on a temporary basis.
Mathathe said if Jordaan is persuaded to recuse himself, “there’s only one suitable candidate of the four Safa vice-presidents to steer the ship on a temporary basis – and that is Dr. Khoza”.
“He won’t have to be there on a full-time basis. He would provide guidance. We are in a difficult financial position where we are failing to pay salaries and national teams. Dr. Khoza has the expertise to get us out of these problems.”
