Kaizer Chiefs promote under-17 star Vicky Mkhawana to the first team ahead of the season 2023/2024.
After registering an impressive 3 goals and an assist in the ongoing African U-17 Cup of Nations, the youngster earned himself a contract with Chiefs’ first team.
The 17-year-old middlefieder signed a 3-year deal with the senior team, becoming a fourth signing for the club ahead of the season 2023/2024.
His promotion is a shock to many, as he has not featured in the club’s reserve side regularly.
He has been a regular starter for the club’s under-19 side in the Gauteng Development League(GDL).
Mkhawana joins Mduduzi Shabalala, Samkelo Zwane, and Wandile Duba in being promoted to the first team this season.
Chiefs promote the youngster at the back of fans criticising the club for not spending money to sign players.
And the 17-year-old’s promotion leave most fans worried.
The club continue to rely heavily on their development structures to produce players.
The youngster will join the club’s first team next season.
But will likely spend most of his time with the reserve team in the Dstv Diski Challenge(DDC) league.
