Kaizer Chiefs international star is said to be set to be handed a new deal at the club amid reported interest from African clubs.

The future of Edson Castillo at Chiefs has been uncertain heading into the current season, as the Venezuelan international star is in his final year of his contract at the club.

His situation at Naturena has opened doors for clubs like Egyptian giants Zamalek SC that is said to have their sight set on signing the 30-year-old middlefielder leading to Chiefs looking to tie him down.
According to Soccer Laduma, sources Chiefs is set to offer him a two-year deal despite his injury due to clubs interested in his signature.
“After the injury, the team was sceptical to renew the deal though he had a one-year option on his contract,” Soccer Laduma source stated.
“But with interest from other clubs, the team has realised that they could lose him for free which doesn’t sit well with them and that’s why they are believed to have exercised the one-year option plus another year so that whatever happens they have control over his move.

“The new deal is expected to run until June 2027 if they add the other year after option.”
Meanwhile, his teammate, Reeve Frosler, is also expected to sign a new deal as he is also on the final month’s of his contract.
