Kaizer Chiefs first assistant coach Khalil Ben Youssef reacts on the club’s new signing Asanele Velebayi ahead of Betway Premiership clash against Richards Bay.

Velebayi completed his dream move to Chiefs this past weekend on a long-term deal after he won the Premier Soccer League Dispute Resolution Chamber(PSL DRC) case against Cape Town Spurs.
However, the 22-year-old is yet to join his new teammates as Spurs has appealed the PSL DRC’s outcome to South African Football Association(SAFA) which doesn’t stop the club from registering and playing the attacker.
With Chiefs set to play Richards Bay at FNB Stadium on Tuesday, the 19th of August, the club’s assistant coach Ben Youssef was asked about whether the South African international is training with the club during a media briefing at the club’s headquarters on Tuesday.
The confused Ben Youssef stated to the media that he doesn’t know the player, despite the club only announcing him last week.
“About who? I don’t know him, this player,” Ben Youssef stated.
Chiefs’ Media Manager, Vina Maphosa, quickly stepped in to clarify the issue, stating that the player will start training with the club once his issues are resolved, which the coach doesn’t deal with.
“Asanele [Velebayi] has joined us on a long-term contract, and he will start training very soon,” Maphosa told the media.
“The coaches are not involved on that side. Give the coach a chance to see the player first.”
