Town and arch-rivals Kaizer Chiefs and Orlando Pirates are understood to be battling for Mamelodi Sundowns star striker ahead of the 2025-2026 season.

Both Soweto-based clubs are looking to beef up their squads for next season for different reasons.
With the Buccaneers looking to go step above and clinch top honours in both domestic and continental competitions after missing out on various competitions, including the league and the Champions League, in the final stretch.
Meanwhile, their counterparts will look to build up on their Nedbank Cup success, which saw them end a 10-year trophyless run and return the fruitful years to Naturena.
Their respective goals to build solid squads ahead of next season see the two parties target Sundowns star striker Etiosa Godspower Ighodaro according to Soccer Laduma.
The publication states that the two clubs are among the handful of the Betway Premiership, which includes AmaZulu FC and Sekhukhune United, along with several overseas clubs who are looking to sign the 23-year-old permanently from Sundowns.
Ighodaro joined the Brazilians back in 2020 and has since been out on loan every season, including this past season at Usuthu.
The Nigerian is said to be looking to stay at the club and fight for his place.
However, he is open to leaving the club this winter should they suggest another loan move.
