2025-2026 CAF Champions League champions Pyramids FC shows interest in South African tactician Rulani Mokwena.

According to one of Africa’s leading journalists, Micky Jnr, the Egyptian side’s hierarchy is said to be unhappy with the club’s head coach Krunoslav Jurčić despite the Croatian leading the club to their maiden Champions League triumph after beating Mamelodi Sundowns 3-2 on aggregate recently.
The club is said to have contacted Mokwena’s agency regarding the availability of the former Sundowns head coach taking the reigns.
“Rulani Mokwena is one of Pyramids’ top candidates to replace Krunoslav Jurčić,” Micky Jnr stated.
“Pyramids have made first contact, confirmed.
“Even after winning the CAF Champions League, Pyramids’ hierarchy thinks Krunoslav hasn’t impressed enough.”
However, Pyramids faces challenge from their fellow Egyptian Premiership side, Zamalek SC, who is also said to be interested in Mokwena.
“Zamalek SC are also interested,” Micky Jnr added.
The nephew of South African Legend Dr. Jomo Sono is also linked with a move to his former side Orlando Pirates, who are in the market for a new coach after Jose Riveiro parted ways with the club at the end of the recently ended season.
Mokwena also recently parted ways with Morrocan giants Wydad Athletic Club less than a year into his four-year deal at the club after a difficult season in Casablanca.
