Mamelodi Sundowns middlefielder Bongani Zungu’s horror tackle on TS Galaxy’s veteran middlefielder Bernard Parker during the clubs’ Carling Knockout Cup Round of 16 clash.

The 37-year-old suffered a career threatening injury at the hands of Mamelodi Sundowns middlefielder Bongani Zungu during a round of 16 Carling Knockout clash last month.

Fear of Retirement 

With the Die Hond in the latter part of his career, many thought that the injury was the end of his career.

However, Bernard Parker still intends to return to the field of play and retire on his own terms.

Guest On Sports Night Amplified 

Thursday, the 16th of November 2023, Andile Ncube on Sports Night Amplified hosted Parker to discuss the injury and his former life at Kaizer Chiefs.

Parker revealed that he received Zungu’s apology through Instagram and also that Sundowns sent a package and a card to him.

When Bernard Parker Will Return

He went on to say that he is over the incident and that he is now focused on getting back to the field of play this season.

The former Bafana Bafana International also revealed that he is in line to return to action before the season ends.

The doctors told him that he would return to action around February and March next year, just in time to wrap up the season.
