Kaizer Chiefs Sporting Director Kaizer Motaung Jr. reveals why the club signed the trio of Asanele Velebayi, Luke Baartman, and Etiosa Ighodaro.

Amakhosi yesterday announced the signings of Ighodaro and Baartman on free transfers, having announced Velebayi the previous on a free transfer as well.
The trio joined the Naturena-based on the back of battles with their previous clubs, as Ighodaro battled Mamelodi Sundowns while Velebayi and Baartman battled Cape Town Spurs.
The acquisition of the trio is seen as a step in the right direction by the club’s Sporting Director Motaung Jr. who revealed why the club signed the trio to SuperSport TV.
“It’s all about the specific players we need for how we want to play,” Kaizer Motaung Jr. told SuperSport TV after the Richards Bay victory.
“We are very excited, and we always had a clear strategy about getting the best young talent.
“We are just very pleased to welcome them. Obviously, there are a few administrative issues still to happen.
“But we are very excited, especially also in bringing Ighodaro upfront.
“We know the young talent with Baartman and Velebayi, we are excited to unleash them to the fans, but at the same time, they will need some time to understand who we are.
“This process hasn’t been easy [and] again, the squad is picking, but we are still very much work in progress.”
