Qatari based club Qatar SC is reported to have pulled out of the race to sign Mamelodi Sundowns star attacker Lucas Ribeiro Costa.

The two sides were reported to have reached an agreement for a fee of $3 million(approximately R53.27 million) for the Brazilians superstar to move to the Gulf region earlier this month.
However, after weeks of talks stalling and Sundowns adding more demands, Qatar has pulled out the race for the signature of the 2025 PSL Players’ Player and Footballer of the Season.
The Qatar Stars League’s side feels the talks are difficult due to Sundowns changing the demands at will despite agreeing on terns in the early rounds of talks.
The club is now focusing on Ribeiro’s countryman, Yan Mateus, who currently ply his trades for Japenese top division side Yokohama F. Marinos.
Meanwhile, Brazilian top tier side, Fluminense still continues to be interested in the signature of the 26-year-old star attacker, but Sundowns’ unwillingness to partways with Ribeiro may also stand in the way of the player returning to his home country.
As it stands, Ribeiro is likely to dawn the yellow and blue of Sundowns for the 2025-2026 season.
