Edson Castillo lands a new club, as Kaizer Chiefs is yet to announce his departure from the club officially.

Having parted ways with the club on mutual agreement after he was told that he was not the club’s plans going forward, Chiefs is yet to officially announce the departure of Castillo.
However, despite that, the Venezuelan international is on the verge of landing a new club, just over a month after parting ways with the Naturena-based club.
The 31-year-old is reported to have signed a two-year deal(one-year with an option for a further year) with Libyan Premier League side Asswehly Sports Club.
He follows in the footsteps of a fellow former Chiefs defender, Thatayaone Ditlhokwe, who joined Libyan giants Al Ittihad, this past season from the Naturena-based club.
Meanwhile, their former side is set to kick off their 2025-2026 season with a league match away to Stellenbosch FC later today.
Amakhosi will be without their head coach Nasreddine Nabi, who is currently in his home country of Tunisia after his wife was involved in a critical car accident.
Nabi’s assistants, Cedric Kaze and Khalil Ben Youssef, will be in charge of the team until the Tunisian tactician returns.
