Kaizer Chiefs central middlefielder George Matlou is understood to be set to sign a new contract at the club.

While others were preparing for the 2025-2026 season during Chiefs’ pre-season tour that also touched Europe, Matlou was playing for his future at the club.
Having joined the Amakhosi family on a two-year deal with an option to extend for a further year ahead of the 2022/2023 season, Matlou’s stay at Naturena ended at the end of last season.
However, with the club unsure whether the player is part of head coach Nasreddine Nabi’s plans for next season, they kept him around the club with a hope of the player impressing the coaching staff and management.
After over a month of uncertainty regarding his future at Chiefs, the 27-year-old is set to continue to wear the gold and black of the Glamour Boys after the club decided to hand him a one-year extension.
SABC Sport journalist Mazola Molefe confirmed that the former now-defunct Moroka Swallows player will sign the contract extension, and the club will announce him this week.
