Kaizer Chiefs central middlefielder Thabo Cele comments on the club’s new signings and development players that have been training with the senior team.

Amakhosi has brought in six players since the transfer window opened, as Nkanyiso Shinga, Flàvio Silva, Ethan Chislett, Thabiso Monyane, Paseka Mako, and Siphesihle Ndlovu joined the Naturena-based club.
Four of the six players travelled with the club to the Netherlands, as Ndlovu and Mako missed out on the trip due to visa and injury issues.
The four new signings were also joined by new faces Thulani Mabaso, Kabelo Nkgwesa, and Naledi Hlongwane from the club’s reserve side.
After nearly three weeks in Europe, Chiefs has returned to the country to continue with their preparations for the new season.
While in Europe, Cele got an opportunity to see what new signings and development players will bring to the team, which he shared with club’s Communications Manager Vina Maphosa during an interview in Durban ahead of 2025 Toyota Cup match against Asante Kotoko.
“It was important for the new guys to come in. We know that they are quality, and they gonna add value in our team, and we need them,” Cele told Maphosa.
“So me, seeing what I see in my own perspective, I feel like they also understand the mission that is at hand.
“We are gelling together beautifully, and there is positivity around the team, not like fake positivity.
“I feel it’s real because in the Netherlands, we played some difficult games there, so we got tested. True test, that’s where you see the team, so I feel in those tests we became more into together.
“We know the mission, we talk among ourselves about the mission of this season, but like I have said it’s about 90 minutes and try to get those three points, those wins maybe when play a cup.
“Even the new guys understand that. The mandate, the mission, that is why we are here for.”
