Former Kaizer Chiefs captain Yusuf Maart starts life in Austria with an impressive second half cameo.

Maart who captained Amakhosi during the 2024-2025 season where he helped the club to end a 10-year trophyless run with a 2-1 victory over arch-rivals Orlando Pirates in the final of the Nedbank Cup scoring the winner, completed a shock move to the newly promoted Austrian top division side, SV Ried earlier this week.
Having penned a two-year deal earlier this week, Maart made his unofficial debut for the club during a friendly match against German lower division side Ernegie Cottbus.
The South African international was introduced early in the second half with the scoreline tied at one-all and quickly made an impact, as he provided an assist for his side’s winner.
In the 63rd minute, Maart won the ball off the opponent, which luckily fell to his teammate Antonio Van Wyk, who is formerly with Stellenbosch FC.
The 23-year-old quickly turned and fired a rocket of a shot to hand the hosts a 2-1 victory and Maart his first assist and victory in the colours of SV Ried.
Maart and his side’s first match of the 2025-2026 season is a round 1 OFB Cup encounter against ESV Parndorf next week Friday, with kick off set for 6 pm South African time.
