Kaizer Chiefs squad overhaul is well underway as the club is expected to make a decision on 15 players after three have left the club already.

Kaizer Chiefs
Kaizer Chiefs winger Tebogo Potsane in the club’s training session during the 2024-2025 season at the club’s headquarters in Naturena with the club’s head coach Nasreddine Nabi looking on.

During a tricky 2024-2025 season that saw Amakhosi miss out on a top eight finish for the second time in two seasons, the club’s head coach Nasreddine Nabi frequently lamented the club’s lack of quality players.

Statements that left the club with little choice but to hit the market hard and make the necessary changes in their squad, especially after the Tunisian tactician ended the club’s 10-year trophyless run by winning the Nedbank Cup.

However, changes mean the club has to decide on the futures of up to 18 players, which three have already left the club namely, Ranga Chivaviro, Njabulo Blom, and Sabelo Radebe.

GOALKEEPERS

Bruce Bvuma, who had his fair chance at the club this season, is said to be on the chopping block alongside Fiacre Ntwari after the duo’s disappointing performances in goals this season.

The duo is likely to be followed out of the club by Bontle Molefe, who is yet to make his senior team debut for the club.

DEFENDERS

Despite playing almost every match since returning from long-term injury earlier this year, Edmilson Dove is among defenders that are walking a tied road at the club.

The Mozambican international is expected to leave due to his injury track record that has seen him miss more than 30% of the matches since joining the club.

He is expected to be followed out of the club by Happy Mashiane, Zitha Kwinika, or Given Msimango and Bongani Sam.

MIDDLEFIELDERS

With the club looking to open foreign players’ quotas, Edson Castillo is expected to be among the middlefielders who will leave the club.

Samkelo Zwane(on loan), Mduduzi Mdantsane, Tebogo Potsane(on loan or permanent), and George Matlou(might stay) are expected to also leave.

ATTACKERS

Despite only recently joining the club, Tashreeq Morris is among players who are at risk of leaving the club with the other attacker who could leave Ashley Du Preez, targeted by European clubs.
