“I am happy with my performance because I have been practising on taking runs and scoring,” Mofokeng told SABC Sport.
“So I am happy with what I have done today, and especially on my first start (for the national team), so I think I am doing well for my country.”
He further went on to touch on the role senior players play in his performance for the national team and how they were crucial in him keeping on being in scoring positions despite missing two clear chances in the first half.
“They always motivate me like they did when I was missing chances in the first half,” Mofokeng added.
“They told me to not stop trying to take the chances and miss them, because if I don’t create chances and miss them, then there is nothing that I am doing because you have to create and find chances.
“So they were encouraging me to avail myself(for the chances) and score.”

While Mofokeng will look to continue his goal-scoring form that sees him with three goals in the last two matches this upcoming Tuesday, when South Africa travels to Ivory Coast to take on Benin.
